Dripping

Dripping is the separation out of (discoloured oil) binding medium with or without pigment leading to long trails running down the support and sometimes leading to pools of paint collected above impasto or along the bottom edge of the painting.

COMMENT: COMMENT: The liquidization of paint (components) that separate from the main body of the paint and form long trails of paint down a support when enough exudate has accumulated at the surface of the body of the paint. It is often found in impasto paint. Drips may be intentional by the artist or formed at a later date due to the composition of the paint, and are therefore unintentional and potentially disturbing.

Druipen

Druipen is de afscheiding van (verkleurde olie) bindmiddel met of zonder pigment. Dit leidt tot lange druipsporen over de drager en soms tot opeenhopingen van verf langs de bovenrand van impasto of langs de onderrand van een schilderij.

Opmerking: Het vloeibaar worden van verf of verfcomponenten die afscheiden van het hoofdgedeelte van de verf en lange druipsporen op een drager vormen. Dit vindt plaats wanneer genoeg materiaal op het oppervlak van de verfmassa accumuleert. Het komt vaak voor op impasto verf. Druipsporen kunnen bewust door een kunstenaar gemaakt zijn, of op een later moment door de compositie van de verf en daardoor niet bedoeld en potentieel verontrustend.
