Foxing

Small brown or reddish blotches found IN the surface of a painting, often on works done on paper but sometimes also those with canvas supports.

COMMENT: COMMENT: Foxing is caused by mould growth or by oxidizing metals in paper.

Foxing

Kleine bruine of roodachtige vlekjes die in het oppervlak zijn, vaak gezien op werken op papier, maar ook soms op schilderijen met doek als drager.

Opmerking: Foxing wordt veroorzaakt door schimmel, of door oxiderende metalen in papier.
